Mitchell Stollberg could be you or could be me. Earlier this fall, Mitchell was diagnosed with leukemia and is in need of support to help with securing the necessary funding to meet his $6000 deductible which is required for the medical treatment that is needed to save his life.
A key leader in the South Florida progressive community, Mitchell has been and continues to be, a champion in the movement for healthcare justice. As activists, it’s our duty to ensure corporate greed does not prevail or serve as a roadblock to accessing Mitchell’s right to healthcare. Organizing through the Broward PDA, Mitchell has given himself tirelessly for others because he understands that the for-profit health industrial complex is an injustice for all people in this country. He is a fighter for all of us. It’s now our turn to fight for our dear brother.
Because of Mitchell’s dire situation, the Labor Community Alliance of South Florida has established an emergency Go Fund Me campaign and we will be holding a fundraising event on Sunday, January 20th, from 3 to 6 PM at The Warehouse 3500 NW 15th St, Lauderhill, to raise the money needed for his desperately needed medical care
Martin Luther King Jr once said “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy“ Even after his diagnosis, Mitchell is still actively organizing in the community and is the living embodiment of those words.
One day, because of leaders like Mitchell, there will be an equitable and just healthcare system in the United States. But until then, let us come together and help ease the burden for brother Mitchell. Please give today as generously as you can by clicking here
